5 Gestures, Full Control
Open hand, index finger, V sign and more — control your music exactly how you want.
🔒
Privacy First
Your camera feed never leaves your browser. All processing happens locally on your device.
🎵
YouTube Support
Control YouTube videos with gestures. Spotify support coming soon.
How It Works
GestureControl uses your device's camera to track your hand movements in real time. You don't need to install anything — it runs entirely in your web browser. When you make a recognized gesture, the app instantly sends the corresponding command to YouTube or Spotify.
The whole process happens locally on your device. Your camera feed is never uploaded to any server, stored, or shared. Only you can see it.
STEP 1
Open the app in your browser
No download or installation needed. GestureControl works on any modern browser — Chrome, Edge, Safari, or Firefox.
STEP 2
Allow camera access
Click "Start Camera" and grant camera permission when prompted. Your camera stays private — all processing is done locally.
STEP 3
Connect YouTube or Spotify
Enable YouTube Mode to search and play videos with gestures. Spotify support is coming soon.
STEP 4
Gesture to control
Hold up your hand in front of the camera and make a gesture. The app recognizes your movement and executes the command instantly.
Who Is It For?
GestureControl is designed for anyone who finds themselves unable to use their hands to control music or video — whether temporarily or by habit.
🍳
Cooking
Your hands are covered in dough or oil. Just wave at the camera to skip a track or turn up the volume.
🏋️
Working Out
Mid-set and need to pause? No need to stop, dry off, and find your phone. A quick gesture does the job.
🎨
Creative Work
Painting, sculpting, or crafting? Keep your focus and tools in your hands while still controlling your music.
♿
Accessibility
For people with limited mobility, gesture control can offer a hands-free way to interact with media without touching a device.
🧹
Cleaning
Scrubbing the bathroom or mopping the floor — keep the music going without ever setting down your tools.
👶
Parenting
Holding a baby in one arm and need to change the song? A single gesture from across the room works perfectly.
Technology
GestureControl is built entirely with open web technologies. There are no native apps, no plugins, and no external servers involved in processing your camera feed.
ML
MediaPipe Hand Landmarker
Google's open-source machine learning model detects 21 hand landmarks in real time directly in your browser using WebAssembly. No data is sent to Google's servers during use.
API
YouTube IFrame API
Gestures are translated into playback commands sent to the YouTube player embedded in the page — play, pause, seek, and volume control all work seamlessly.
AUTH
Spotify Web API (coming soon)
Spotify integration uses the PKCE OAuth flow — your credentials are never stored on our side. The access token lives only in your browser's local storage.
PWA
Progressive Web App
GestureControl is installable as a PWA on desktop and mobile. A service worker caches the app shell so it loads fast even on slow connections.
